Please join us for the launch and celebration of Under the Azure, translations from the work of French poet, Francis Jammes by Californian poet, Janine Canan.
Mrs Patricia Polites (Honorary Consul General of France in Melbourne) will introduce publisher Christine Mathieu, translator Janine Canan and Melbourne singer Kavisha Mazella who will sing some of Jammes’ poems she has set to music.
The most famous of Jammes’s verses are from his poem Le rosaire, (The Rosary) which were immortalized in George Brassens song, La prière (the Prayer). Kavisha brings her rich Mediterranean background to interpret this and other poems.
